If you’re anything like me, you probably dread the moment you get in your car to go to work or run errands. Why? I miss TV. I miss being mindlessly entertained, even for a few minutes.
I know, I know; it's unhealthy. But after a weekend of nonstop horror movies, SVU reruns, or watching a movie that really struck a chord with me, sometimes I just can’t stop thinking about it.
And no, I would not like to drive to work while listening to pop music, or even the news. I want to keep being entertained by stories.
So I turn to podcasts. Podcasts about movies, podcasts about the latest TV craze, and audio dramas.
I know there are tons of great educational shows out there that would do my brain wonders, but when it gets down to it, I just want to lose myself in fiction. And these are some of my favorite podcasts to do that.
Top Podcasts About TV & Movies
1. Hey, Do You Remember…?
To become one of my favorite podcasts about movies, you have to cover one aspect - the entire movie, scene by scene.
I know, that sounds insane. But if the podcast is about a movie you’ve just watched or that you’re familiar with, it's not as painful as it sounds. It’s like watching a movie with your friends and commenting on it in real time.
Hey, Do You Remember…? Picks popular movies that came out at least a decade prior and discusses if they’ve “held up” to the notions the hosts had of them over time.
They talk about the social context of each movie, their initial reactions, and then break down the movie’s key scenes after a recent viewing. You can’t help but be whisked away to that much younger time when they first watched Clueless, The Mighty Ducks, and Sleepy Hollow.

2. The No Sleep Podcast
Born from the r/nosleep subreddit, this horror fiction podcast is an anthology of horror stories read out loud by a talented cast of narrators. The stories are dark, covering a range of topics such as demons, curses, ghosts, abductions, science fiction, and urban legends that turn out to be horrifyingly true.
The story length varies from episode to episode. It's not uncommon to hear a three-part miniseries over the course of a month, and at the end of each season (they’re currently on their tenth), they often release longer stories lasting over an hour or more.
The show has won several awards, is routinely in the top 100 on iTunes, and is my favorite thing to binge during October and - surprisingly - Christmas.

3. NPR’s Fresh Air
I wouldn’t be a true podcast (and movie) lover if I didn’t mention at least one NPR podcast. Covering a variety of topics such as films, television, music, and books, the iconic Fresh Air delivers a classy and professional look at pop culture.
Fresh Air features in-depth interviews with the influencers and stars of the entertainment industry, and exposé-like reports on the latest pop culture news. It's the perfect bridge between entertainment and staying informed.
4. RABBITS
While many people prefer crime documentaries, I love a good cult-drama. Public Radio Alliance’s Rabbits is a story told in docudrama style about a podcaster whose best friend goes missing.
During her search, host Carly Parker uncovers an exclusive, ancient, and mysterious game that takes her down a dark rabbit hole (get it?) into the secrets that have lived before her very eyes.
The show’s website (spoilers) is heavily used to provide you with the visual media the host works with throughout her tale. There are multiple cries for help to the audience to figure out the clues she discovers along the way.
5. Oysters, Clams, and Cockles
I, like millions of others across the globe, absolutely love Game of Thrones. During the last season, I was so addicted I listened to three separate Game of Thrones podcasts, breaking down the episodes as they premiered.
My favorite quickly became Oysters, Clams, and Cockles, hosted by three members of clothing store-turned-media production squad, GrandEx Media. But after the last season ended, the podcast didn’t stop. In fact, they took on a new campaign - “The Night’s Rewatch”.
Starting from the first episode of the first season, the hosts continue to watch one episode a week in order to truly appreciate the intricacies woven throughout the story, reveling in the future fates of the baby-faced characters. And luckily, there are just enough episodes to keep the podcast going until the next season in 2019.

Why I Love These Podcasts
Podcasts about TV and movies have saved my life. They offer me an escape from the never-ending learning and workload I suffer every day. I have no idea how I would stay sane until my next chance to watch TV without them.
